Video Content Analysis

Technologies for video content analysis are evolving very quickly, but at this time, only a limited number of vendors offer such systems commercially. The analysis of video content is performed using either analog or digital feeds, and provides alerts on the basis of either motion detection or non-motion detection, detection of intrusion, loitering, running, slip and fall incidents, theft, graffiti/vandalism, and abandoned objects. The solutions are scalable to include thousands of cameras, and support either a centralized or distributed architecture. Vendors boast that these systems work in a broad range of environments (indoor/outdoor, rain, fog, low light) to provide automated, real time detection, identification, tracking and analysis of potential security threats and events. In addition, some offer the ability to scan pre-recorded video and extract information that will aid in establishing rules to detect possible patterns (such as a person casing a perimeter).

Key Applications:

  • Crowd Control and Security
  • Public Safety
