April 28, 2010 – RISE Consortium Announces Availability of Detailed Proceedings from Biometrics, Security & Ethics Conference

The RISE Consortium, which is currently conducting a series of meetings, workshops, and conferences around the topics of biometrics, security, and ethics, has increased visibility of this dialogue through the posting of detailed proceedings on its website (www.riseproject.eu). The website now includes, for public events held to date, downloadable documents that include agendas, reports of the proceedings, and copies of presentations from the meetings.

March 17, 2010- RISE Consortium to Meet in Brussels to Examine Global Mobility and Security

The RISE Consortium, comprised of 10 partners from across the EU, Asia, and the US, will meet in Brussels on March 25-26 2010. This high-level workshop will focus on “Ethical and Policy Implications of Global Mobility and Security.

March 9, 2010- RISE Project Extends Dialogue within Asia Through Addition of National ChengChi University of Taiwan to Consortium

The 3rd International Conference on Ethics and Policy of Biometrics and International Data Sharing held in Hong Kong on January 4-5, 2010 not only extended the international dialogue on  biometrics, data sharing, privacy and security issues already instigated by two earlier conferences, but also led to the addition of the National ChengChi University of Taiwan as a RISE Consortium member.

January 18, 2010- RISE Meeting in Hong Kong Attracts Global Audience and Broadens Ethics and Security Dialogue

The 3rd International Conference on Ethics and Policy of Biometrics and International Data Sharing held in Hong Kong on January 4-5, 2010, attracted an audience of policy makers, industrial players, and others in examining the key issues facing nations, commercial organizations, and citizens as biometric systems become commonplace and the movement of data across borders becomes more difficult to manage and control.

October 28, 2009- Inaugural Meeting of RISE in New Delhi Broadens Global Dialogue on Biometrics, Data Protection and Ethics

The inaugural meeting of the RISE project was held in New Delhi on September 24th and 25th, 2009, marking the broadening of an ongoing global dialogue on biometrics, data protection, and security ethics. Global Security Intelligence, as part of the RISE consortium, moderated one of the panels, and participated in engaging policymakers, industry players, and other key stakeholders in a broad ranging discussion of the key issues facing a changing technological and geopolitical landscape.

April 3, 2009- Global Security Intelligence Awarded Contract for RISE Project

Global Security Intelligence was awarded a contract as part of a consortium which aims to promote pan-European and international awareness on ethical aspects of biometrics and security technologies. The 10-member consortium is focused on ensuring that policy concerning global security is ethically informed.
