The RISE Consortium, which is currently conducting a series of meetings, workshops, and conferences around the topics of biometrics, security, and ethics, has increased visibility of this dialogue through the posting of detailed proceedings on its website (www.riseproject.eu). The Long Lasting Memories (LLM) Project, with funding from the European Commission under the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (ICT PSP/2008/1), will hold a workshop in Athens on Thursday, 20 May 2010 to demonstrate progress on an innovative solution to enhance elderly cognitive health. This is the first of two workshops to be held during the course of the LLM project, and it will present the preliminary results of the development, integration, and pilot planning efforts of the consortium leading up to the launch of the five-country trials. As the newly launched BRAID project begins its work to develop a comprehensive roadmap for active ageing and RTD, it has just issued an open Call for Experts to participate in shaping the dialogue around these essential policy issues. BRAID, Bridging Research in Ageing and ICT Development, is an EU FP7 Support Action that was launched in March by 9 partners from 7 countries, and is expected to publish a consolidated roadmap that builds upon the work of earlier roadmapping projects, and an intensive stakeholder engagement process. Global Security Intelligence Limited has been awarded a contract as part of the BRAID consortium, whose work is aimed at defining a comprehensive research and technology development (RTD) roadmap for active ageing by consolidating existing roadmaps and by describing and launching a stakeholder co-ordination and consultation mechanism. The 3rd International Conference on Ethics and Policy of Biometrics and International Data Sharing held in Hong Kong on January 4-5, 2010 not only extended the international dialogue on  biometrics, data sharing, privacy and security issues already instigated by two earlier conferences, but also led to the addition of the National ChengChi University of Taiwan as a RISE Consortium member.
