Medication Compliance Management

One of the key concerns in treating illness and in particular, in managing chronic disease which is common for aging individuals, is with the patient’s own compliance with a prescribed course of medication. When an individual may need to manage several different medications to treat one or more conditions, it is challenging to remember to take the medications on time, and to do so consistently. This is often complicated further for those individuals who are in the early stages of dementia where memory has begun to be impaired, but independent living arrangements are still desirable. There are numerous offerings for medication compliance management, from simple pillboxes with alarm reminders, to specialized medicine cabinets/dispensers, to integrated systems where use of the medication dispensers are monitored and fed into a general activity monitoring system.
